I taught middle school for 8 years, and sometimes, I still miss it. My students taught me about empathy, patience, and injustice. They instructed me in the ways of laughter and not taking myself too seriously, and they asked me to do a lot of wild things like pop their pimples and “Hit the Quan”. Back then, I was called to serve in a school, to teach and love my motley crew as well as I possibly could, and I was proud to do it.
Then, God called me out of middle school and into missions, a very different kind of education. In that season, I learned how to dream, how to dig deep wells of courage, how to take big steps of faith and walk boldly into new things. And you know what? He had me do it all again when I got home - through layoffs, career changes, multiple moves, and leading me to start over in Charleston, SC without knowing a soul. Surrender and obedience have wound my road to blessing, I’m sure of it.
Why has God been shaking up my life over and over since 2017? Of course, He did it for me, but I think he also did it for you. To give me wisdom and experience and stories to help you along your life journey. He sees everything all at once, and he knew you’d be here reading this and wondering, is this for me? I can’t wait to help you build momentum, take brave steps, delight in the freedom of choice, and lean into a life you love.
Let’s seize the new mornings with God and believe His promises over our lives. Let’s laugh ‘til our stomachs hurt and eat dark chocolate on weeknights and find moments of rest and joy in a busy world. And most of all, let’s run toward the biggest, boldest dreams we have because that’s have we will change the world for the glory of god and the good of those around us.
A Bit About Me
My Manifesto
When I began working on this website, I wanted to be sure I was doing it for the right reasons. Out of that desire, this personal manifesto was born. It has evolved a bit over time, but right now, this is where I’ve landed. I share it here so you can see my heart and what I aspire to be. If it speaks to you, feel free to make it yours, too!
I am willing to abandon my best-laid plans to pursue God’s purpose in my life, knowing that what I create pales in comparison to my Creator.
I seek God above all things. I long to more intimately know His Son, His Word, and His Spirit.
I desire to see revival in the world and be a catalyst for that revival in my own community.
I do not shrink back. I move forward in faith, and when I am faced with fear, I dance.
I use my voice to speak life, promote justice, and glorify God.
I aim to please God, not people. I am a servant, not an influencer.
I am generous with my time and talent, and I use them both to lift up others.
I value the diversity and uniqueness of every person, and I act like it, too.
I am humble and hopeful, and I lead with integrity.
I let my joy and light overflow without reservation or preference.
